2001 Maniacs is a 2005 horror film directed by Tim Sullivan, starring Jay Gillespie, Dylan Edrington and Matthew Carey. It is a remake of the 1964 film Two Thousand Maniacs! written and directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis. The film is distributed by Lions Gate Entertainment.The Movie was filmed in Westville, GA a popular period reenactment town located in southern Georgia.

Plot

Eight yankee/prep college students travel south towards Daytona Beach for Spring Break, but a detour leads them into the seemingly idyllic Georgia town of Pleasant Valley (population 2001), which is holding a "Guts and Glory Jubilee" in honor of the American Civil War. While they stay in the town, completely isolated from the outside world, they are systematically separated and killed in gory fashion by the town's residents. Two students manage to escape, but upon alerting the authorities they learn that "Pleasant Valley" is nothing but a cemetery - a memorial for 2001 Confederate villagers who were massacred 150 years earlier in the Civil War. A plaque reveals that the town's residents will not rest until the crime has been paid back on the Yankees: 2001 must be killed... an eye for an eye.

Jay Gillespie as Anderson Lee, one of the vacationing college students. He is friends with Cory and Nelson. He is killed with barbed wire.

Matthew Carey as Cory Jones, another college student and a friend of Anderson and Nelson. Peaches kills him while performing oral sex on him.

Marla Malcolm as Joey, another of the college students. He is friends with Ricky and Kat. Killed with barbed wire.

Gina Marie Heekin as Kat, another of the college students. She dies quickly after being drawn and quartered.

Brian Gross as Ricky, a friend of Kat and Joey. He is impaled.

Mushond Lee as Malcolm, a tourist who arrives on a motorcycle with Leah. He is crushed to death.

Dylan Edrington as Nelson Elliot, another college student, friends with Cory and Anderson. Milkmaden kills him while having sex with him.

Bianca Smith as Leah, who is crushed by bell.
