The 2008 Formula BMW Europe season is the first season of a new open wheel racing series that results by the merging of the Formula BMW Germany and Formula BMW UK championships, Formula BMW Europe is a new continental series for junior drivers, whose mission is to develop talented young drivers and introduce them to auto racing.[1]
The youngsters will do battle for points for the first time on April 27, 2008 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and will end on September 14 at Monza. This is followed by classic Grand Prix venues, such as Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza. The race in Valencia promises to provide a real highlight, as the youngsters tackle a new street circuit.
The new championship will mainly be staged on the undercard of the FIA Formula One World Championship.
