The Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form is an award given annually by members of the World Science Fiction Convention. Any dramatic production of a running time of less than ninety minutes (without commercials, if applicable) that aired in the previous year was eligible for the award, which recognizes the best science fiction or fantasy works.[1] The 2008 award was the sixth such award given; in 2003 the Convention split the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation into long and short form categories. The nominees included three Doctor Who episodes written by Steven Moffat and Paul Cornell. The other nominees were Michael Taylor's Battlestar Galactica TV movie "Razor", Michael Reaves and Marc Scott Zicree's Star Trek New Voyages episode "World Enough and Time", and Catherine Tregenna's Torchwood episode "Captain Jack Harkness".[2]
After voting, the winners were announced at WorldCon, an annual convention produced by the World Science Fiction Society. The 2008 WorldCon took place in Denver, Colorado from August 6 to August 10.[3] The award was won by Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat for the third year running.[4] Moffat had previously picked up the award for the Doctor Who episodes "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" and "The Girl in the Fireplace".
