Amazing Stories: Book One is a 1992 movie directed by Steven Spielberg and Danny DeVito consisting of two stories from the Amazing Stories series. The movie is reminiscent of the The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Darkside in that it takes a seemingly normal real life situation and adds a twist of the supernatural.
The movie consists of two stories, "The Wedding Band" and "The Mission". A mass market title 'Amazing Stories: The Movie' was released, which consisted of the "The Mission" and "Go to the Head of the Class" (from 'Amazing Stores: Book Two'), however only "The Mission" and "The Wedding Band" were directed by Spielberg and DeVito.
The Mission - Stars Kevin Costner as a bomber plane captain, Casey Siemaszko as Jonathan, and Kiefer Sutherland as radio operator Static, trying to get their team down after a bomber run. The plot revolves around the belly gunner being stuck in the turret with the plane having a dysfunctional landing gear. The gunner has aspirations of being a cartoonist, which ultimately resolves the story, a mind over matter tale.
