Animal Park is a television documentary about the life of keepers and animals at Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire, England. It also covers the daily life of workers in Longleat House, the estate and the gardens.

Main Series

Animal Park is broadcast by the BBC on BBC Two, with repeats appearing on BBC One on occasion, is presented by Ben Fogle and Kate Humble. The show's first series was aired in 2000, and there have since been seven additional series of the show, with a ninth currently being filmed.[1] It is also shown on UKTV People and UKTV Gold.

Content

The show features all kinds of animals in residence at the park, with some of the most commonly featured being Trevor the ostrich, Jolly the giraffe, Nico the gorilla and the late Babs the Rhino and Kabir the lion. Notable events across the programme's history include the reclocation of the park's herd of elephants to France, countless animal births and the introduction of three new South African white rhinos to establish a breeding herd.

Spin Off Shows

There have been two spin offs from the main series. The first of which, Animal Park: Wild In Africa, originally aired from Monday 27th February 2006 to Friday 10th March on BBC2. The show followed wildlife experts in Namibia as they went about their work with the animals of the country, including examining injured lions and studying water holes. The second series, titled Animal Park: Wild On The West Coast followed a similar structure in San Francisco and California and aired on BBC2 from Monday 23rd July 2007 to 3rd August 2007.
