History

Baden Airpark was a Canadian military base and airport, CFB Baden-Soellingen, from 1953 until 1993. The newly founded Baden Airpark GmbH took over the airport in 1995 and the first commercial flight took place on May 17, 1997 to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Technically the airport is just a part of Baden Airpark, which also includes facilities for both business and leisure. The latter includes an 18-hole golf course and an enclosed ice rink (both originally part of the Canadian base). From that time stems the name Baden Söllingen, which locals use to denote the airport.

Public ground transportation

The airport can be reached by different public local bus links from the Baden-Baden train station and Rastatt train station. Besides that there are regular long distance bus services from Offenburg, Freiburg, Strasbourg, Mannheim, Heidelberg and Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.

The taxi fare to Baden-Baden is about 24€.
