Benjamin Franklin Shibe (January 23, 1838 - January 14, 1922) was an American executive in Major League Baseball who was half-owner of the Philadelphia Athletics from 1901 until his death. He is credited with the invention of the machinery to make standard baseballs. Shibe Park was named in his honor from 1909 to 1954. Shibe died in 1922, and was buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania
