History

As an Indian Army division it was created on December 15, 1942 and converted to a British Army division on September 1, 1944 . It fought in the Burma Campaign toward the end of World War II , taking part in the Battles for Mandalay (February 12 to March 21, 1945 ) and the Rangoon Road (April 1 to May 6, 1945 ) .
