Derawal Nagar (Hindi: डेरावाल नगर, Urdu: ڈیرہوال نگر) is a colony in Delhi, India in which people of the Derawal ethnic group reside. Originally native to the Derajat region (the citiy of Dera Ismail Khan of what is now northern Pakistan, these individuals, who are mostly Hindu, established the colony after the partition of India. There are a number of Derewals living in Vijay Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Mukherjee Nagarand Gurgaon [1] The language spoken by the original inhabitants of this area is Derawali, which is a dialect of Punjabi. Most Derawalis belong to Middle/Upper class and most of them are in the service sector, a few of them now are trying their hand at business.
