The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) is the division of the United States Department of Defense which processes applicants of college ROTC scholarships, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the United States Service Academies. The DoDMERB staff is comprised of approximately 44 individuals, 21 military and 23 civilian. The branches of the military are represented by: Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. It determines whether applicants are qualified or disqualified for military service. If a candidate is found disqualified he/she can apply for a medical waiver. The process of which can take several months.
