Background

Dominican High School was established in 1956 by the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters.

Dominican High School provides young adults with a co-educational, Catholic, college-preparatory experience based on the teachings of Jesus. Its faith-driven school community fosters spirituality and creativity, respects uniqueness and diversity, and encourages intellectual, social, physical and artistic development. Students are commissioned to develop a heightened sense of social responsibility and respect for human dignity based on the values articulated by our sponsoring congregation, the Sinsinawa Dominicans: Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community and Partnership.

Ninety-eight percent of students who graduate from Dominican seek higher education.

History

A leader in Catholic secondary education, Dominican High School was established in 1956 as a college preparatory high school. It has educated nearly 8,000 students to be positive influences in society. Dominican treasures the quest for knowledge and values its Catholic heritage.

Catholic education is an important component for the future of the Church. Secondary education serves a critical population. It is crucial that institutions such as Dominican are strong in order to teach teenagers to make value-based decisions and help keep them in the lifeblood of the Church.
