Fred Donald Bessent (March 13, 1931 – July 7, 1990) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched from 1955-1958 with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida.

He pitched in the 1955 & 1956 World Series for the Dodgers.

Bessent died in Jacksonville of alcohol poisoning. His death was ruled accidental.
