A God complex is a state of mind in which a person believes that they have supernatural powers or god-like abilities. The person generally believes they are above the rules of society and should be given special consideration.
In media
- In the movie "Malice", the character Dr. Jed Hill was accused of having a "God complex". Dr. Hill gives a brief discussion about his God complex while being deposed for having removed a healthy ovary from Tracy Kennsinger.
- Dr. Cox from Scrubs is an example of someone who has a God complex, and is even accused of it in one episode.
- In the episode "If I'm Dyin', I'm Lyin" ,of Family Guy, Peter is convinced that he is a god after he claims to be a healer.
