The Great Britain Davis Cup team represents the United Kingdom in Davis Cup tennis competition and is controlled by the Lawn Tennis Association. Great Britain played in the very first International Lawn Tennis Challenge (the tournament was known until 1945). They are the third most successful team in terms of championships won, with 9 (tied with France), but have appeared in only one final since 1937.
Great Britain qualified for the 2008 World Group, but lost to Argentina in the first round. They then lost a play-off against Austria in September which relegated them to the Europe/Africa Zone Group I.
Great Britain will host Ukraine in March 2009 in Round 1 of the Europe/Africa Zone Group I.
