Coordinates: Hariana is a city and a municipal council in Hoshiarpur district in the Indian state of Punjab. Hariana is named after Guru Hari Sen; the guru of the famous singer Tansen. It was a famous music gharana once. Gujjar Mal Vasudev raagi & Pandit Telu Ram were famous singers & residents of hariana.When the mugals entered into India; they made a Quila in a place called Malot nearby Hariana & Hariana was their tehsil at that time. The city has provided a lot of freedom fighters like Pandit Jagat Ram and Sardar Partap Singh Wasal. It is also the city of famous writer S.Jagjit Singh Komal.
