M. Jayachandran is a notable musician in the Malayalam film industry. He has won Kerala State Film Awards for the best music director in 2003, 2004 and 2007. He also won the state award for the best male singer in 2005.

Early life

He was born in Thiruvananthapuram(Trivandrum) in Kerala, India. He started his career as a music director after completing electrical engineering graduation from College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. Jayachandran began learning Carnatic music since the age of 5.[1] He was selected continously four times, from 1987 to 1990, as the best singer in Carnatic music in the Kerala University youth festivals. He began his career in film industry as an assistant to the Malayalam music director, G. Devarajan.
