Siran Valley, is a little known valley, lying in Mansehra District, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan. Like the neighbouring areas, this Valley also suffered greatly from the earthquake which hit the region on 8th October 2005.

Name

The Valley gets it name from the River Siran which flows through it.

Geography

The Siran river is originates from the Manda Gucha Glacier and merges into the Indus River. The Siran Valley has a lot of natural beauty.

Sites of Interest

The shrines of Ghazi Baba and his son, Jalal Baba, are located in Old Bogarmang.

General Musharraf's visit

On 8th April 2006, General Pervez Musharraf became the first Pakistani Head of State to visit this Valley. His visit to the village of Kodar Bala was in connection with the 6 month anniversary of the 8th October earthquake. While there he inaugurated the village mosque and laid the foundations for the rebuilding of the primary school. He later addressed a gathering of locals before flying back to Islamabad.^[1]
