Susana Gimenez

Susana Giménez, née María Susana Giménez Aubert (born January 29, 1944 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine actress and television presenter. Giménez started her career as a scantily-clad model in a soap commercial (where she sat on a rock, and uttered the word shock!) and went on to achieve fame as a vedette with Nelida Roca, also as a film actress, and TV hostess and producer.

Most of her filming career was in adult-oriented comedies, acting opposite Alberto Olmedo, Jorge Porcel, and fellow vedette Moria Casán.

In the 1970s, she dated middleweight boxing champion Carlos Monzón, in a widely publicized romance. Their liaison ended in 1978.

Giménez is the host of a highly-rated television variety show in Argentina, similar in format to those of Verónica Castro (in Mexico), Yolandita Monge (in Puerto Rico), Gisela Varcárcel (in Peru), and Raffaella Carrà (in Italy and Spain). Giménez entered into the Guinness Book of Records because all the letters and phone calls she received in her show. In 1997 she was awarded with the Golden Martín Fierro Award for her show.

In November 30, 2005 she finished the 18th season of her show.

Her show's rating dropped dramatically when Marcelo Tinelli, who always aired after her in Telefe, changed network (to Canal 9) and was put on the same timeslot. Marcelo won the ratings war and it was Susana's lowest-rated season. Her show didn't air in 2006 and she came back in 2007.

Some of Susana's guests included Shakira, Gloria Estefan, William Shatner, Valeria Mazza, Verónica Castro, Paulina Rubio, Chayanne, Cristina, Diego Maradona, Ricky Martin, Luis Miguel, Diego Torres, Liza Minnelli, Fran Drescher, Sophia Loren, Marcelo Tinelli, Thalía, Robbie Williams, Julio Iglesias, Alejandro Sanz, Suzana Vieira, Reynaldo Gianecchini, Viggo Mortensen, Xuxa, The Bee Gees, among many other national and international superstars.
