The Hawaiians is a 1970 American historical film based on the novel Hawaii by James A. Michener.It was directed by Tom Gries and had screenplay by James R. Webb. The cast included Charlton Heston as Whipple Hoxworth, and Geraldine Chaplin. It also featured an outstanding performance by Tina Chen for which she received a Golden Globe nomination as best supporting actress.

It tells the story of Whipple Hoxworth, who started the pineapple industry in Hawaii with the help of JAPANESE indentured peasants, whom he brought to Hawaii from JAPAN, because his grandfather died, leaving his fortune to Whip's cousin, Micah Hale (Alec McCowen).

The film was based on the book's later chapters, which covered the arrival of the Chinese and Japanese and the growth of the plantations. The third chapter of the book had been made into a film Hawaii earlier in 1966.
