Zafar Iqbal is an Indian field hockey player. He wore Indian blue jersey number 11.
He made valuable contribution for winning the last Olympic Gold Medal for India in Moscow Olympics. He has captained Indian squad in various International events prominent among them being Asian Games, in 1982 and 1983 Champions Trophy and 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Zafar is remembered for his powerful attack. Unfortunately, he is also well remembered for missing a goal, in front of an open goal against West Germany, that would have secured India a semifinal spot in the 1984 LA Olympics.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award, the highest award given in sports by India. He has served as Chief National Coach for Indian hockey from early 1993 to October 1994. Zafar currently works as manager for Indian Airlines.
